Multilingual events

Every participant connected.

A multilingual meeting environment for delegates, interpreters, presenters, and remote participants.

PAHO serves as the World Health Organization’s Regional Office for the Americas. At its Washington, DC headquarters, conference and executive meeting spaces bring together in-room discussion, language interpretation, presentation, and remote participation.

ITI provided systems integration across this meeting environment. The work connects the functions used by delegates and interpreters with the audiovisual systems supporting the room, its production workflow, and participants joining by video.

Scope of work
  • Multilingual discussion

Delegate and chair microphones, request-to-speak functions, interpreter consoles, and language listening.

  • Presentation and production

Content sharing, camera coverage, large-format displays, and distribution to connected meeting areas.

  • Remote participation

Videoconferencing, presentation sharing, and room controls within the broader conference workflow.

From the delegate position to the room.

The documented conference-system scope extends from microphones and participant identification to interpretation and camera operation. Electronic nameplates, chair and delegate controls, and interpretation equipment are part of the larger-room workflow. The presentation scope includes wired and wireless sharing, camera presets, and automatic camera tracking.

In the main conference environment, the video-routing scope includes the primary displays, ribbon displays, and a program feed to the rotunda. The scope connects these presentation destinations with the room’s production system.

Continuing support includes recurring system checks across the conference rooms. The operating and maintenance scope follows the complete meeting workflow: audio and video in both directions during a call, content sharing, camera operation, source selection, level adjustment, interpretation, and room startup and shutdown.

Ready for the Directing Council.

In September 2023, PAHO confirmed that the second-floor conference rooms were ready for its Directing Council meeting. The client’s feedback recognized the meeting rooms, pre-function areas, and videoconferencing capabilities, and recorded the inauguration of the main conference room that week.
